2023 Christmas Tree Disposal
Holiday trees can be disposed of in two easy ways:

  1. Cut and place in Green Waste Cart: Holiday trees can be cut into small sections and placed in your green waste cart. Please make sure the lid on the cart can close.
  2. Take Trees to Designated WM Recycling sites: Waste management will be providing Free Holiday/Christmas Tree Recycling for Nevada County residents. You can take whole trees (free of all tinsel, snow flocking, decorations, and metal stands) to specified locations.

The HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HEAP) is a program of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) which provides assistance to eligible low-income households.

  • The HEAP program provides financial assistance in the form of an annual (once every 12 months) utility payment for gas, electric, propane or firewood to help with the high costs of heating and/or cooling.
  • Assistance available for current and/or past due bills, such as a 48-hour shut-off notice.
  • Annual utility bill assistance up to $1000, depending on the total household income and energy costs. (Please note: dollar amounts may be subject to change.)
  • The applicant must meet all the necessary guidelines and income requirements outlined in the program.
  • Applicants MUST be residents of Placer or Nevada Counties to qualify for HEAP assistance through Project GO.
  • Assistance is available once per year per household.

Following a wildfire, storm, or other disaster, residents who continue to experience outage issues or other utility concerns after contacting their utility provider should submit a complaint with the California Public Utilities Commission's online form.

Be ready to provide:

  • Name of the Utility Provider
  • Full name of the customer. If you are not the customer of record, you must be authorized to discuss the account with the utility company.
  • Account Number
  • Service Address (the physical location of the service. Is it a residence or business?).
  • Mailing Address (if different from service address).
  • Area code and phone number that pertains to the dispute.
  • A phone number where we can reach you.
  • Details of your complaint. Please be specific and provide as much information as possible such as a chronological order of dispute. For example, the dates that charges were billed, the location of the safety concern, etc.
