They can also do residential and commercial interior and exterior painting. Cecil Construction is a member of the nonprofit Nevada County Contractors' Association.

ENERGY SAVINGS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - PG&E

The PG&E Energy Savings Assistance Program provides qualified customers with energy-saving improvements at no charge. Utility-approved contractors work with low-income customers to make their homes more energy efficient. Improvements can include replacing a refrigerator, repairing or replacing a furnace or water heater*, installing insulation, weatherproofing/weatherization, energy-efficient light bulbs, and more.

*Furnace and water heater repair or replacement may be available to eligible homeowners if PG&E determines that existing natural gas units are inoperable or unsafe.

Participants can be renters or owners and must live in a house, mobile home or apartment that is at least five years old. Income must meet the guidelines which are the same as those for CARE, the California Alternative Rates for Energy Program. FREED's Fix-It program organizes volunteers to make minor home repairs or modifications which are health or safety related. Modifications may include installation of grab bars and hand rails, repair or replacement of electrical fixtures and leaking drains, help with ramps, and minor repairs to entry steps and porches. Modifications support people with disabilities, including seniors, so that they may continue to live in their own homes. 

This program is offered through the Main Office site in Grass Vallely AND the Branch Office site in Yuba City.

Habitat for Humanity builds affordable homes in partnership with local low-income families.

Offers the Habitat Home Ownership Program that provides an opportunity for local, low-income families to purchase a simple, decent, affordable home in Nevada County. 

Families are chosen based on three basic eligibility criteria:
1. Need - family income is between 30% to 80% of the median income in Nevada County.
2.  Ability To Pay - verify that the family does have a steady income in order to successfully pay the monthly mortgage payments.
3. Willingness To Partner with Habitat - The family agrees to do 500 "sweat equity" hours helping build their home or providing another service to the organization.  

The NC Habitat Homeowner selection committee carefully reviews applications, conducts interviews, and makes home visits to ensure that the families selected have the greatest need and likelihood of success as homeowners.

Cty of Auburn Housing Programs

The City of Auburn does not currently have funding available for affordable housing programs. In the past, however, the City received funding from the State of California to operate both a First Time Home Buyer Down Payment Assistance Program and an Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program. Both programs are for qualifying, low-income applicants. Information about the most recent programs is provided below.

If you would like to be considered for either program should funding become available in the future, the City encourages you to complete the appropriate program interest form below. The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA ) is excited to announce our Accessory Dwelling Unit Grant Program and we are looking to our local government partners to help us reach qualifying homeowners.
Eligible homeowners could receive up to $40,000 to fund ADU predevelopment and closing costs (including interest rate buydowns).
