Offers support services including legal and medical assistance, advocacy and case management, mentoring and support groups, educational and career assistance, and emergency cell phones.

AMI Housing, Inc (AMIH) is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides housing, employment  and life skills programs to residents of Nevada County and Placer County who otherwise might be homeless. AMIH also manages and operates Nevada County Housing Development Corporation.​

AMIH’s programs can help people who are low income and are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. Any rent payment assistance help is based on their income and need.  Some people get help with the security deposit, first month’s rent, and then a few months of rental assistance.  Others get help for longer and some for shorter period of time.  The extent of rental assistance depends on the individual and their need. A housing counselor may be able to help them find a suitable and affordable apartment in Nevada County.

Housing Opportunities Providing Experience (HOPE) offers transitional housing along with intensive life skills support for young adults that have emancipated from court ordered foster or group home care.

HOPE is a program of Whole Person Learning (WPL), a public agency that empowers youth and young adults to thrive in their communities by using a collaborative, individually tailored positive youth development approach.

The Placer County Office of Education (PCOE) in collaboration with Child Advocates of Placer County, provides the Independent Living Program (ILP) for Placer County. ILP provides training, services, and benefits to assist current and former foster youth in achieving self-sufficiency prior to, and after leaving, the foster care system.

The Placer County Independent Living Program (ILP) delivers high quality services in the community where foster youth are living and learning. Our mission is to promote self-sufficiency among transition-aged youth related to:

• Personal development and resiliency
• Employment readiness
• Job placement assistance
• Financial independence
• Education
• Housing
• Health care

Staff approach all youth work with a lens of trauma-informed care, continually striving to provide environments that are safe, positive, predictable, consistent, and equitable.

LAST Ministry's goal is to provide safe, sober, affordable housing for women desiring to stop the addiction of drugs, alcohol, food, and other coping devices that steal the freedom available to every person. Offering practical tools for real and permanent change, they encourage and assist women to become and remain financially self-sufficient through heart change, gainful employment and life skills necessary for independent living.

It is very important to the organization that they help and encourage women to grasp and implement the powerful biblical principles which are offered through daily prayer, education on understanding the brain and the mystery of addiction and for self-destructive behavior and the underlying issues that drive them.

Live Violence Free (formerly the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center) is dedicated to improving the emotional, social, and economic condition of women and families in the community through programs and services that address domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and basic needs.
