The COVID 19 Financial Relief program can help when Placer County residents' ability to pay their rent has been affected by COVID-19, as well as those who have been unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This program is for Placer County residents who are:
  • behind on rent
  • not yet behind on rent but who anticipate becoming late on their rent payment

Call 211 Placer County at 1-833-342-5211 (or 1-833-DIAL211) to see if you may be eligible for receiving financial assistance.

Placer County residents are encouraged to call 2-1-1 Placer County if they have experienced any of the following:
  • Received an Eviction Notice
  • Lost 50% or more of your income 
  • Received a 15 Day Notice To Quit
  • Experienced an increase in rent and a decrease in income

The COVID-19 Tenant Relief Act – SB91 (Act) was signed into law January 29, 2021. The Act extends eviction protections to COVID-19 impacted tenants and establishes the state’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

BACKGROUND
On January 29, 2021 Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 91, legislation to extend the state’s eviction moratorium through June 30, 2021. The legislation pauses evictions for tenants who declare under penalty of perjury an inability to pay all or part of the rent due to a COVID-related reason. Tenants are still responsible for paying unpaid amounts to property owners, but those unpaid amounts cannot be the basis for an eviction, even after the moratorium ends.

The Emergency Solutions Grant CV1 program can provide funds for utilities and relocation to people who qualify. Applicant income must be no more than 50% AMI. AMI is Area Median Income. The Nevada County Housing and Community Services Program is a partner of the Homeless Outreach and Medical Engagement (HOME) Team, created in June 2019.
 
The HOME Team is a partnership between Nevada County, Hospitality House, Turning Point Community Programs and AMI Housing.
 
County staff can contact the HOME team to connect someone they think may need additional help or services.
