Pioneer Community Energy is a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA) that was formed in 2017. CCAs are not-for-profit public agencies that purchase electricity for residents and businesses in the community, leading to more competitive energy rates. Pioneer is one of 24 operational CCAs in California. CCAs work with investor-owned utilities (IOUs) like PG&E. PG&E is a Program Administrator of the statewide Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP), which is providing financial incentives for Medical Baseline customers installing new, qualifying equipment for storing energy for their homes.

The SGIP Equity Resiliency incentive is designed to allow customers to install a home battery storage system at no cost to them. In July 2020, PG&E was approved for the SGIP Marketing Education and Outreach Plan and Financial Assistance pilot, both of which are specifically focused on supporting Medical Baseline customers in High Fire Threat Districts (HFTD). The Financial Assistance pilot alleviates the need for customers to pay upfront costs and enables additional customers to participate in the program.

Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Events

​To protect customers and communities from the risk of wildfire, Liberty will temporarily turn off power when weather conditions present an increased fire risk. Power outages might be prolonged, lasting several days. In partnership with fire weather experts, Liberty monitors real-time weather data and forecasts and regularly tests fuel moisture during the fire season. If it is determined that the forecasted conditions meet or exceed safety thresholds, Liberty will initiate a PSPS. 

PSPS Alerts

In the event that a PSPS is a possibility, Liberty will attempt to contact customers through calls, texts and emails, using contact information on file. Call 800-782-2506 to update your account's contact information. An online account can be created through Liberty's website. If you have any difficulty registering your account, please call Customer Care at 800-782-2506 for assistance.

AMI Housing, Inc (AMIH) is a California nonprofit that provides housing, employment and life skills programs to residents of Nevada County and Placer County who otherwise might be homeless. Nevada County residents must be clients of Turning Point.

All AMI programs require:

• proof of county residency for 14 days before being eligible for funding
• current income that can support housing costs going forward after any funding assistance from AMIH

AMIH offers assistance in multiple languages through a Language Line service.

About the TAY program
