The City of Colfax has one staffed and two unstaffed/volunteer fire stations.

Station 30 is staffed and serves the communities of Colfax and Gold Run. The station targets hazards include the Interstate 80 Corridor, UP Railway, Kinder Morgan Pipeline, and the City of Colfax. Station 30 is the upcountry home to the Placer County Technical Rescue Team and serves the rugged canyons and recreation areas of the North Fork of the American River. Station 30 is located at 24020 Fowler Road, Colfax, CA 95713.

Station 36 is an unstaffed/reserve volunteer station and serves the downtown area of the City of Colfax. Station 36 is located at 33 Church street, Colfax CA, 95713.

Station 37 is an unstaffed reserve/volunteer station on the north end of Colfax. It serves the City of Colfax and the area around Rollins Reservoir. Station 37 is located at 139 Oak Street, Colfax, CA 95713.

The Grass Valley Fire Department provides fire suppression, emergency medical response, hazardous materials first response, fire prevention and safety education, fire investigation, fire code inspection, plan review, and pre-construction consultation services.

The Nevada City Fire Department responds to structure fires, emergency medical incidents, rescues, hazardous materials incidents, automobile fires, and wildland fires.

The Roseville Fire Department responds to medical incidents, fires, hazardous material incidents, rescue situations, or natural disasters.

Every Roseville Fire Department Firefighter is certified as a Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician and with at least one Paramedic on every response unit, patients with even the most serious conditions can be stabilized and treated prior to being transported to a hospital.

The Roseville Fire Department currently operates eight fire stations.

Placer County Fire Department (PCFD) provides all fire and emergency medical services. Through a Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) which was initiated in 1974, PCFD integrates state and local firefighting resources, career and volunteer, into an effective combination fire department.

Higgins Fire Protection District provides fire prevention, fire protection planning, fire suppression/emergency incidents, emergency medical service/rescue, and training. Fire protection and EMT rescue services are provided on a 24 hour basis. School presentations on fire safety are done as a service of this department.

The Nevada County Consolidated Fire District provides fire suppression and emergency medical response services. Special operations include swift water rescue and large animal rescue. Additional programs include fire inspection and prevention services, public education programs, and participation in community projects.

Town of Truckee is served by the Truckee Fire Protection District whose service area extends beyond the Town of Truckee limits. Provides Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services on a 24-hour basis. Offers general safety information on topics including Defensible Space, Fire and Home Safety, Fire Conditions, Burn Permits, and Emergency Evacuations at local stations.
