Wayfinder Family Services has four programs serving Placer County. Three are direct referrals and one requires a call to the Placer County Mental Health Access line.

Kinship Support Services Program – call directly for referral. Wayfinder’s Kinship Support Services Program (KSSP) supports grandparents, extended family members or close family friends who step up to raise children so they avoid the trauma of separation from their birth family. KSSP is free of charge to families.

Home to Stay – can call directly or be referred by a provider. Home to Stay offers counseling and support services to kinship and birth families who are at high risk for out of home placement in Placer County. Wayfinder provides short-term in home counseling and parent education to enhance parenting skills, building supports and mitigating behavioral health risks to youth and families. Harmony House offers mentally ill individuals a group living environment. Adults live at Harmony House cooperatively, learn the skills necessary to live independently while receiving support as needed from highly trained Mental Health Workers.

Harmony House is located in the foothills of Auburn, California in the hub of other Placer County departments. Many services are centrally located for residents and can be reached within walking distance.

All services are coordinated with Placer County Department of Mental Health and other treatment providers to ensure continuity of treatment.

Nevada County Public Health’s health access vending (HAVEN) machines provide free and confidential county health products and services that:

  • Save lives
  • Prevent chronic disease

All products are free and you can register for a unique pin number to access products easily online or in-person.

The Medical Board is responsible for investigating complaints and disciplining health professionals who violate the law.

The Medical Board of California (Board) investigates complaints involving:
  • Medical doctors (M.D.s)
  • Midwives 
  • Polysomnographic trainees, technicians, and technologists
  • Research psychoanalysts
In addition, Board staff reviews and investigates complaints about Doctors of Podiatric Medicine; however, any disciplinary action taken against the respective licensees is decided by the licensing Board/Bureau for that profession.

If an individual or organization appears to have violated the laws within the Board's jurisdiction, Board staff will investigate the allegations and charges may be filed.
