Grass Valley Police Department provides a full-service community policing organization. Offers the following:

  • Animal Control services for both Grass Valley and Nevada City.
  • The Patrol Division preserves the peace, protects life and property, receives and handles complaints, apprehends offenders, conducts initial crime investigations, and provides traffic enforcement.
  • The Investigative Division provides follow-up investigation of all criminal cases which cannot be completed by patrol officers, assists with the apprehension of persons within the City that are wanted by other jurisdictions, develops programs to deal with juvenile problems, processes crime scene data, collects evidence and acts as a court liaison.
  • Maintains a records office.
