The Placer County Children's Mental Health Crisis Services provides behavioral services for children.  Assessments for non-crisis intensive Mental Health Services are provided by Masters-level professional clinicians in all geographic areas of Placer County, including Auburn, Roseville, Lincoln, and King’s Beach.

Self-referred individuals or families will either have an appointment scheduled with the Children’s Mental Health Unit, with an organizational provider, an MFT or LCSW in the Placer County Network, or they will be linked to another appropriate community or agency provider depending on needs and insurance coverage.

If your life is in danger or you need to report an emergency situation, call 911.

For at-risk children in emergency and crisis situations call 24/7 crisis line at Family and Children's Services:

Children's Behavioral Health

Nevada County Behavioral Health provides a Children's Mental Health department which serves children and youth who have Nevada County Medi-Cal and meet moderate to severe criteria for Behavioral Health Treatment: recent psychiatric hospitalization, Probation or Child Welfare involvement, significant challenges at school, homelessness, or a complex combination of concerns that may involve trauma, depression or anxiety symptoms, and housing instability.

Children's System of Care offers comprehensive services for children and youth who may be at risk in Placer County.

Eligibility

Eligibility for Placer Children's mental health services includes full scope Medi-Cal beneficiaries, and County Medical Services Program (CMSP) beneficiaries with low or no share of cost. Those who do not meet these eligibility criteria are assessed on an individual basis regarding their need for services.

The Cirby Wellness Center offers free wellness activities and support services for Adult System of Care (ASOC) clients and community members.

Services include:

  • Hosting group activities such as journaling, choir, gardening, hiking, and health education
  • Providing support with job readiness, resume writing, and budgeting
  • Offering help accessing housing, food banks, Medi-Cal, and mental health screenings
  • Supplying all needed materials; no cost to participate

Additional notes:

Open to both ASOC clients and the general public. Operates within a county outpatient mental health clinic, where additional services may be available.

Community Assistance Recovery and Empowerment (CARE Court) Court Program is a civil (non‑criminal) court program that provides eligible adults with serious mental illness to county behavioral health treatment and support service up to 24 months. Participants receive a clinically indicated, individualized treatment plan and supportive services for not a criminal court, does not include all mental health conditions, and is not a housing‑only or homelessness solution.
