CALFRESH (FOOD STAMPS) CalFresh, formerly known as Food Stamps and known federally as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), can help families and individuals put healthy and nutritious food on the table. CalFresh provides extra funds to help those who are in need each month to buy groceries. With a CalFresh electronic “debit” card (known as EBT) you can buy most foods at many food stores and farmers markets. Even if temporary, individuals and families who have experienced a change in their circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and need additional help, may apply for CalFresh. Replace lost or damaged food
People can request replacement benefits for food that they bought using CalFresh and that they lost or had damaged in an emergency such as fire, natural disaster, power outages, etc. A form must be submitted within 10 days of the end of an event, such as a power outage.

To Apply for Replacement Benefits
Complete and submit the CF 303 form.

• Online - At BenefitsCal.com the CF 303 form can be downloaded, completed, then uploaded to your account.

• By phone - Customers can call Placer County Human Services, and get help completing the form via phone. People can mail in the CF 303 or bring it to one of the Placer County Human Services offices.

Submitting online via BenefitsCal.com will probably be the quickest and easiest because people will not need to wait in queues in the call center or office lobbies.

CalFresh (also known as the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program or SNAP) is a federally mandated program that provides monthly food benefits to assist low-income households in purchasing nutritious food. CalFresh Benefits
The amount of CalFresh benefits depends on family size, income, and monthly expenses such as housing, utilities, and child care. The benefits will be loaded onto an Electronic Benefits Transfer card (EBT card) that looks like a regular credit card and can be used at most markets and grocery stores. The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada responds to disasters and emergencies both large and small to those displaced by earthquakes, wildfires, floods, home and apartment fires, gas leaks, or windstorms; delivers preparedness, health & safety courses including CPR and First Aid certification; and, provides Services to the Armed Forces for members of the military and their families.

If someone knows for certain the they have lost their home in a disaster, they can call 844-236-0153 any time 24/7 to let American Red Cross know. ARC can open a case file and there may be resources available through ARC to help.

The Sierra Vista Community Center is located in downtown Colfax, California and serves the foothills of Placer and Nevada Counties.

In the event of disasters and emergencies, the Animal Control department of the Nevada County Sheriff's Office oversees animal evacuation.

Animal Evacuation information is event specific. Details will come from the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services. Though animal evac may be at the Nevada County fairgrounds, it may somewhere else if, for example, there is an event underway at the fairgrounds.
