The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program coordinates volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who are dependents of the Nevada County Juvenile Dependency Court, helping to ensure they have a chance to live in a safe and permanent home.
People from all walks of life may apply to be
CASA volunteers. Concern for children, willingness to learn about the child welfare and court systems, a commitment of 10-15 hours a month, good writing and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively are some of what’s needed to be a CASA.
Contact the CASA program for an application packet. Application includes a personal interview and comprehensive background check. Trainings for the CASA Program are held in the spring and fall; however interested persons can apply at any time. Volunteers must have driver's license and current insurance.
