Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) is providing free "Grab and Go" meals for all children through June 30, 2021. Each Wednesday or Thursday, seven days of meals will be offered including 7 breakfast, 7 lunches, fresh fruits, vegetables, and milk. (All items will be provided as vendor's supplies are available, weather and emergencies permit.)

Meals will be distributed every Wednesday, now – June 30, 2021
  • 7:30-9:00 am
  • 12:30-2:00 pm
OR one pickup per week/per child every Thursday evening
  • 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

CalFresh is a food supplement program, formerly known as Food Stamps or SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), that helps qualified individuals obtain nutritious food.

ELIGIBILITY 
Many CalFresh customers work and are considered low income. Others may be unable to work due to lack of work or inability to work; individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI and SSD), and Social Security are eligible for CalFresh. Individuals receiving or authorized to receive SSI/SSP (Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Payment) are eligible for CalFresh, provided all other eligibility criteria are met. 

Even if temporary, individuals and families who have experienced a change in their circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and need additional help, may apply for CalFresh. Californians can visit GetCalFresh.org to apply or call 877-847-3663 (FOOD) to be connected to their local county social service office.

Spend CalFresh dollars at Farmers Markets from June through November and receive up to a $10 match per market every week. Come to the Farmers Market booth, show EBT card and photo ID (must be a Nevada County resident), then Market Match tokens will be given to match EBT purchases (up to $10). Tokens can be used to buy food at participating farm stands. Market Match will be available at the SATURDAY and TUESDAY markets. See times and locations below.

Offers a nutrition, breastfeeding and health education program that helps pregnant women, mothers with new babies, and young children, under age 5 years, eat well and stay healthy. Families receive checks to purchase nutritious foods at grocery stores. Legal guardians such as fathers, foster parents, and grandparents can receive checks on behalf of children.

Sierra Community House Weekly Drive-Through Food Distributions
  • All services are free and available in English and Spanish.
  • Community Members are asked to remain in their vehicles and must wear a mask. We will place a bag of nutritious, perishable, and non-perishable food in your trunk.

SUMMER LUNCHES FOR KIDS 2021 - NCCL

During the summer most library branches provide free bagged meals for kids 18 and under. No sign-up or registration is necessary, and there is no income requirement for the summer lunch program. 

Summer meals are available at Nevada County Community Libraries (or other sites in Truckee) through partnerships with Food Bank of Nevada County, Grass Valley School District, and Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. There is no income requirement to participate, and all kids 0-18 are welcome.
