Medi-Cal offers transportation to and from appointments for services covered by Medi-Cal. This includes transportation to medical, dental, mental health, or substance use disorder appointments, and to pick up prescriptions and medical supplies.
 
There are two types of transportation for appointments
  • Nonemergency medical transportation (NEMT) is transportation by ambulance, wheelchair van, or litter van for those who cannot use public or private transportation.
  • Nonmedical transportation (NMT) is transportation by private or public vehicle for people who do not have another way to get to their appointment.
Medi-Cal recipients with Partnership HealthPlan of California (PHC) can contact PHC for transportation services. PHC is the managed care provider for both Nevada and Placer Counties.

Emergency Boarding Grants
Boarding help for pet owners hospitalized with COVID-19. This grant will cover the cost of up to two (2) weeks of boarding while a pet owner is hospitalized.

Urgent Care Grants Financial assistance for immediate, lifesaving veterinary care

Domestic Violence Safe Escape Grants Helping families and pets to safety by offering survivors of domestic violence support in offsetting the cost of temporary pet boarding while a client is in a domestic violence shelter.

Domestic Violence Safe Housing Grants Helping shelters provide a safe space for pets. Our grants can help to build pet housing at the domestic violence shelter, or help domestic violence shelters work with partners in the community to offer other pet housing options.

Community Beyond Violence offers a 24 hour crisis line which is available 365 days a year to victims in crisis from domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or dating violence, and for their friends or family members. Advocate/Counselors are available 24 hours a day for counseling and response to the hospital or law enforcement. Depending on circumstances, possible emergency transportation, food, and shelter may be available to those in crisis. All services are free, confidential and non-discriminatory.

The travel trainer helps people create an individualized training plan to meet their specific travel needs and goals. They learn how to plan their trip, make their journey, and build confidence in using the bus system.

211 Travel Training offers three types of instruction
1. One-On-One Travel Training - Instruction in the skills necessary for independent travel on the public bus system.

Nevada County Now offers paratransit and senior on-demand dial-a-rides. There is no Sunday service. Service area includes Grass Valley, Nevada City, Penn Valley, Lake Wildwood, and other local areas (see link to map in Web Pages section below). Bus hours: 7am - 6pm  Monday - Friday. 7:30am - 4:30pm Saturday.

The County of Nevada Transit Services administers an origin-to-destination/door-to-door paratransit service for persons with disabilities who, due to a mental or physical disability, are unable to use the fixed-route bus system, as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
