The In-Home Supportive Services program (IHSS) allows limited-income elderly, blind, or disabled people to hire someone to help them with housework, meal preparation, and personal care. With this help, the IHSS recipient may remain safely in their home and will not need to move into a care facility or an institution. The IHSS program is funded by federal, state, and county resources. The IHSS recipient chooses their care provider, supervises the provider's work, defines how tasks will be completed, and can fire the provider if necessary.

The IHSS program pays providers to provide personal care, such as:
  • feeding and bathing
  • household tasks such as laundry, shopping, meal preparation, and light housecleaning
  • transportation
  • protective supervision
  • certain paramedical services ordered by a physician

IHSS does not pay for the following services:
  • general gardening or yard clean-up that does not present a hazard

The Place County Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) Program is a statewide health program whose goal is to assure that all children and youth of families with limited income in California stay healthy by providing complete health exams, preventive services and immunizations to eligible children.

CHDP provides care coordination to assist families with medical appointment scheduling, transportation and access to prompt diagnostic and treatment services to prevent or greatly reduce the severity of suspected problems.

The CHDP program also provides a "gateway" to ongoing health care for children by linking families to health insurance and a medical home.

To participate in CHDP you must be a Placer County resident, and you must meet one of the two following requirements:
  • Age 0 to 19 with low to moderate family income and no health insurance coverage for health exams
  • Age 0 to 21 with limited or share-of-cost Medi-Cal

Perinatal Substance Use Services are a part of Adult System of Care, one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

This program provides substance use services for mothers and mothers-to-be who want a clean and sober life. If you are pregnant, have children under 17, and/or are attempting to regain custody of children while trying to address your substance use, you may qualify for a variety of services and supports.

We welcome women who, in addition to substance use issues, may have mental health issues that contribute to the current circumstances. Examples of such needs may be feelings of anxiety or depression, which often accompany substance use. Services range from outpatient, detoxification, and residential and transitional housing. Some services may even include child care (while you receive treatment) and help with transportation to program.

Blossom Place provides safe housing, one-on-one support, and resources so former foster and at-risk young women ages 18-24 can learn life skills, achieve their goals, and gain the confidence to blossom into who they are meant to be.

Blossom Place believes one's basic needs of housing, food, clothing, and safety need to be met before you can move on to accomplish other goals. The Independence Plan is a step-by-step plan that moves a young woman through basic needs and into goals and dreams. With a mentor, a counselor, and a Blossom partner who acts case manager alongside her, she will work through education, career, health, transportation, and relationship goals. She'll learn time management, budgeting, cooking, cleaning, stress management, and parenting skills. The ultimate goal is for each girl to have all the pieces of the puzzle in place, and all the skills and the confidence in herself to successfully move on to independent living.
