Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services for low-income individuals including families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, foster care, pregnant women, and low income people with specific diseases such as tuberculosis, breast cancer, or HIV/AIDS.

The Victim/Witness program of the Placer County District Attorney's office offers support and advocacy to victims and witnesses of crimes.

Program services are provided free of charge, and there is no legal citizenship requirement to receive assistance.
  • The crime should be reported to law enforcement.
  • The victim must cooperate in the investigation and prosecution of any known suspects.
  • The victim must not have contributed to the events which led up to the crime.
  • The Victim Services program provides direct services and reimbursement for victims of crime in Placer County.

Sacramento Native American Health Center (SNAHC) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) Federally Qualified Health Center, located in Midtown Sacramento.

Medi-Cal is free or low-cost for California residents who meet eligibility requirements. Medi-Cal considers income, but there is no asset limit (bank accounts, cash, property, vehicles).

Most applicants who apply through Covered California and enroll in Medi-Cal will receive care through managed health care plans. In Nevada and Placer Counties the managed care provider is Partnership HealthPlan of California (PHC). Medi-Cal offers transportation to and from appointments for services covered by Medi-Cal. This includes transportation to medical, dental, mental health, or substance use disorder appointments, and to pick up prescriptions and medical supplies.
 
There are two types of transportation for appointments
  • Nonemergency medical transportation (NEMT) is transportation by ambulance, wheelchair van, or litter van for those who cannot use public or private transportation.
  • Nonmedical transportation (NMT) is transportation by private or public vehicle for people who do not have another way to get to their appointment.
Medi-Cal recipients with Partnership HealthPlan of California (PHC) can contact PHC for transportation services. PHC is the managed care provider for both Nevada and Placer Counties.
