Bridges to Housing provides homeless individuals or families with a deposit when they have found a place to move into. The criteria required is based on the individual's needs and income status. They must have some type of income to qualify. To start the application process a client must stop by the office and pick up an application.


Program Guidelines and Verification Requirements


Guidelines

  • Deposit funding is determined by need.
  • The client's ret must be no more that 60% of the monthly income.
  • The client must have a stable income and is sustainable going forward.
  • A client's income must not exceed the Federal Proverty Guidelines.
  • Funding is one time only.
  • Intake is based on at least one interview.
  • Client must find and secure their own rental.

Verification Requirements

  • Photo identification for all adults in the household, 18 and over.
  • Social Security cards for all household members.
  • Income: Passport to services, social security letter or 3 recent months' pay-stubs.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly known as Section 8) assists low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled in paying for decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.

The Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opened periodically on an as needed basis. When the waiting list is re-opened, a public announcement is placed in area newspapers and information posted on the Regional Housing Authority's website.

The Tenant Power Toolkit (TPT) is a multi-organization collaborative effort designed to keep people in their homes, fight evictions, fight rent debt, and build the collective power of tenants. Learn how to use the Tenant Power Toolkit - Attend one of the free online Toolkit Trainings. The trainings are aimed at helping California tenant organizers, counselors, lawyers and tenants themselves on how to use the Toolkit to keep renters in their homes.

This is how it works: You answer some questions about your eviction and debt situation. TPT helps you fight your eviction and your rent debt, links you with legal resources and tenants’ rights groups, and their housing justice work including collective action campaigns.

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) operates the Housing Assistance for Ukrainians (HAU) program to help eligible Ukrainian arrivals and others displaced from Ukraine secure stable housing and work toward self-sufficiency in California.

Services include:

  • Rental assistance for up to six months, covering up to 50% of monthly rent
  • Maximum housing benefit of $10,000 per household
  • Support with security deposits and utility payments
  • Light-touch case management for housing stabilization
  • Required participation in employment service activities

Additional details:

HAU is available to people paroled into the United States between February 24, 2022, and September 30, 2024. New applications must be submitted by September 30, 2025.

Services may continue through March 2026 for those enrolled before the deadline.

  • The Dream For All Shared Appreciation Loan is a down payment assistance program for first-time homebuyers to be used in conjunction with the Dream For All Conventional first mortgage for down payment and/or closing costs. Upon sale or transfer of the home, the homebuyer repays the original down payment loan, plus a share of the appreciation in the value of the home.
