Stanford Sierra Youth and Families provides foster care, adoption, and family advocacy services for youth and families in Placer County.

Services include:

• Family Advocacy and Support – Helps families navigate behavioral health, child welfare, and educational systems through mentoring, coaching, and support.
• Pathways to Permanency – Offers foster care and adoption services with the goal of helping children find safe, stable, and permanent homes.

Big Brothers Big Sisters offers one-to-one mentoring relationships for youth ages 8-14, with a focus on children from single-parent households. 

Matches are made based on compatibility, proximity, and personal preferences.

Program details include:

• Mentorship opportunities for youth of varied backgrounds
• Personalized matches with trained adult volunteers
• Long-term friendship and guidance for enrolled youth

The Firefighters Burn Institute Youth Firesetter Program provides staff for pre-academy interviews with children involved in fire-setting. A fire safety academy completed in two sessions is also provided. As part of the academy, children learn:

• Fire safety education
• Fire hazard recognition
• Home escape planning

Placement for families who need counseling services is also part of the program.

California Alliance of Caregivers provides

• Foster, kinship, guardian, and adoptive families
• One one-on-one assistance to families who need to connect to resources and benefits that are specifically for children and youth currently in or from foster care
• Free parent training and resources for all parents, but they are directed toward parents caring for children with mental health needs
• Weekly, virtual, facilitated support groups
• Leadership coalition around the state that supports families at the local level

Trainings are free for all parents and caregivers. Training and support are primarily targeted to parents and caregivers of children in or from foster care; and children with mental health needs.
