The Arc of Placer County operates the following programs:
  • The Adult Achievement Center (AAC) is an adult day program that serves clients looking to be active members of their community. Located in Auburn, clients at AAC achieve personal goals by participating in the life skills curriculum including vocational training, daily living practices, health and fitness, cognitive growth, and mobility training – all aspects of life that enable clients to be more independent and contributing citizens.
  • On the Go (OTG) and On the Go Youth (OTGY) are social recreation programs that serve adult clients and transition age clients respectively. The Alzheimer's Association seeks to eliminate Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia through:

  • Raises awareness of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia
  • Safety services

Provides an adult day care facility that is licensed with the State of California. Offers socialization opportunities, peer relationships, reduction of isolation, group and individual exercise, nutritious meals and snacks, counseling and support, medication assistance, and an individual needs and services plan. Offers referrals to local support groups for caregivers.

Specialized Dementia Care Program for early onset Alzheimer's Disease or other cognitive impairments. Safe Memory Care Patio for outdoor enjoyment and activities.

The Mission of One Source – Empowering Caregivers is to improve quality of life for In-Home Caregivers and their loved ones by providing cost-free, non-medical support while they remain at home in a safe and healthy environment.

This resource is eligible for electronic referral.  One Source provides assessments for in-home family caregivers and loved ones to help create a specific plan to assist the in-home caregiver with respite and other resources.

Provides volunteer respite in-home family caregivers at no cost.

Maintains a registry of independent home care providers. Refers home care providers to seniors and people with disabilities who qualify for In-Home Supportive Services and need assistance with domestic tasks and personal care. Refers home care providers to consumers who do not qualify for IHSS through a private pay registry. Assists care providers in completing the steps to register as an IHSS provider, including orientation, paperwork, and Live Scan fingerprinting. Assists IHSS providers with timesheets and payroll. Provides health benefits to eligible IHSS providers. Offers online and in-person training to care providers, consumers, or anyone interested in improving their skills.

IN-HOME SUPPORTIVE SERVICES (IHSS) - NCDSS

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) provides assistance to eligible aged, blind and disabled individuals who are unable to remain safely in their own homes without this assistance. Offers an alternative to out of home care, such as skilled nursing or board and care.

People interested in receiving IHSS have to start the process with Nevada County Adult Services. Call 530-265-1639 or visit the local office  to request an IHSS application. You must be receiving or eligible for Medi-Cal. After Medi-Cal eligibility is determined, a county social worker will come to your home to conduct a needs assessment to determine the IHSS services and hours you need.
