The County of Placer offers free ID vouchers to eligible residents.

People who are receiving social services in Placer County may be eligible for vouchers to help pay for California identification cards (ID cards). There are no-cost and low-cost vouchers.

Check with your case manager/s about getting a voucher. People who receive vouchers can then go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to apply for an ID card.

This program is for ID cards only. There is no voucher program for driver's licenses.

CalWORKs p​rovides cash aid and employment services to eligible families with children through California’s public assistance program. 

Services are delivered by county welfare departments and are available in all 58 counties.

Services include:

• Monthly cash assistance to help pay for basic needs such as housing, food, and utilities
• Immediate, short-term aid for families with little or no cash
• Employment and training support to help participants become self-sufficient
• Eligibility determinations based on family size, income, and special needs
• Support for families experiencing the absence, disability, or death of a parent
• Assistance for families with both parents present when the principal earner is unemployed
• Aid for needy caretaker relatives of foster children

Assistance League Thrift Shop is managed and staffed completely by member volunteers and is stocked with gently used clothing and merchandise. All funds raised at the Thrift Shop are returned to the local area through chapter programs.

If you are an adult with dependent children, you may be eligible for California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, or CalWORKs. CalWORKs provides:

• Child care, work expense assistance, transportation, and counseling
• Education, employment and training programs through Employment Services
• Families with children financial assistance to meet their basic needs
• Support for families moving toward self-sufficiency

If you are eligible for CalWORKs you will automatically qualify for Medi-Cal and may also qualify for CalFresh. The Salvation Army provides emergency assistance and community support for Rocklin and Roseville residents. Services include:

• Rental Assistance – Limited funds for Rocklin; none for Roseville until August 2025.
• Utility Assistance – Roseville utilities only; unavailable until August 2025.
• Food Assistance – Emergency pantry and community meals.
• Other Services – Disaster response, showers, holiday programs, childcare, job search support, and spiritual counseling.

County of Placer Human Services offers a drop-in service to assist eligible individuals applying for Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs, and General Relief. 

The drop-in service is open Monday and Thursday (excluding holidays) from 8am-12pm at 415 Roseville Square, Roseville, CA, 95678.
