➢ Sierra Roots | Holiday Meal Service
- What? Sierra Roots provides a weekly hot lunch every Thursday at the Community Church in Nevada City for people experiencing homelessness. The service on Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving) and Thursday, December 25 (Christmas) will include a full holiday meal served at the regular time.
- When? Thursdays at 11:30am (doors open at 10:30am)
- Holiday meals served on:
- Thanksgiving Day | Thursday, November 27, 2025
- Christmas Day | Thursday, December 25, 2025
- Where? Community Church, 300 Main Street, Nevada City, CA 95959
Eligibility:
- Open to people experiencing homelessness
- Walk-in only; sign-in with name requested
- No ID required; respectful behavior expected
- Leashed dogs allowed
- Children are not allowed at this service
➢ Interfaith Food Ministry | Thanksgiving Food Distribution
- What? Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) is distributing holiday food to Nevada County residents in need during Thanksgiving week. Food options vary by household size and availability. A reservation system is used to support planning and limit waste.
- Holiday food includes:
- Small households (1-2 people): Premade frozen Thanksgiving meals (while supplies last)
- Larger households (3+ people): Whole frozen turkeys (14-16 lbs, while supplies last)
- Side items: Limited variety available
- When? Distributions are held on the following dates:
- Friday, November 21, 2025
- Saturday, November 22, 2025
- Monday, November 24, 2025
- Wednesday, November 26, 2025 (Final Day)
- Where? Interfaith Food Ministry, 440 Henderson Street, Grass Valley, CA 95945
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this service, a household must:
- Reside in Nevada County
- Be experiencing food insecurity
Additional notes:
- Reservation required; no-shows may result in a 1-month service pause
- Do not request a turkey from IFM if already received from the Food Bank of Nevada County
- IFM will be closed November 28-29th and will reopen December 1st
