PIONEER COMMUNITY ENERGY
Pioneer Community Energy is a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA) that was formed in 2017. CCAs are not-for-profit public agencies that purchase electricity for residents and businesses in the community, leading to more competitive energy rates. Pioneer is one of 24 operational CCAs in California. CCAs work with investor-owned utilities (IOUs) like PG&E. PG&E maintains the physical infrastructure, delivers the power, and provides the billing service.
Pioneer serves large areas of Placer and El Dorado counties and the Cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City in Nevada County.
Pioneer customers are also PG&E customers since PG&E’s transmission infrastructure (poles and wires) is used to deliver the electric generation provided by Pioneer. For more, visit the what we do page to learn more and how it works.
Since Pioneer customers are also PG&E customers because PG&E provides the delivery infrastructure, Pioneer customers are eligible for all PG&E programs, are billed by PG&E, and are subject to Public Safety Power Shutoffs and other outages affecting PG&E equipment in the Pioneer service area. Natural gas is a PG&E service and is a part of the PG&E bill. Pioneer Community Energy does not manage natural gas.
Pioneer does not engage in telemarketing or door-to-door solicitations. If you receive an unsolicited call or visit from someone claiming to represent Pioneer Community Energy, you are urged to report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission and to Pioneer at customerservice@pioneercommunityenergy.org
