211 offers COVID-19 information resources organized by level of government: County, State, and Federal. Below is information from the County of Nevada and the Nevada County Public Health Department (NCPHD).

General GuidanceQuarantine and IsolationTesting
  • See the Nevada County Public Health web page for info about COVID-19 testing: https://www.nevadacountyca.gov/2979/Get-Tested. NCPHD does NOT do COVID-19 testing in homes or elsewhere. People who need in-home testing need to get a home test kit.
  • As of 3/1/23 - Nevada County Public Health has a supply of Over-the-Counter COVID-19 test kits that can be provided to community members. Call NCPH COVID-19 Nurse Line at 530-265-7258 to arrange for a parking lot pick up at the NCPH building located at 500 Crown Point Circle, Grass Valley.
  • The OptumServe test sites formerly in Grass Valley and Truckee have closed permanently.
Vaccines
  • 9/13/23 - The updated COVID vaccine is now available for adults and children, ages 6 months and up. While the vaccine will no longer be provided free of charge from the federal government, it will be covered by most insurance plans (including Medi-Cal and Medicare) at little to no cost to the patient. The vaccine will continue to be available at most doctor's offices and pharmacies. People looking for the vaccine should check with their doctor's office or local pharmacy to schedule an appointment. Appointments may also be made using Vaccines.gov or MyTurn.ca.gov
  • Get Vaccinated - https://www.nevadacountyca.gov/3183/Get-Vaccinated
  • NCPHD will NOT be doing in-home visits to give the new COVID vaccine. This is in part because the vaccines will no longer be free (though they will be covered by most insurance plans). People are advised to check the NCPHD or MyTurn websites for locations offering the vaccine. If they need further information, they can call the NC Public Health Department at 530-265-1450.
