PLACER COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH
In the US, immunizations have reduced or eliminated many infectious diseases that once routinely killed or harmed many infants, children, and adults. However, the viruses and bacteria that cause immunization-preventable disease and death still exist and can be passed on to people who are not protected by immunizations.
Placer County residents can get assistance scheduling flu and COVID-19 vaccine appointments by calling 211 or 833-342-5211, unless they are insured by Kaiser Permanente, in which case they need to schedule directly with Kaiser at kp.org.

Immunizations for School
California Law (Health and Safety Code 120325-120375) requires that children entering public or private schools, including childcare, preschool, elementary, or secondary schools, receive required immunizations. Placer County holds safety-net immunization clinics for eligible children ages 4-18 who are in need of immunizations. Eligible children meet criteria for the Vaccines for Children Program (VFC), which includes children who are uninsured and Medi-Cal insured. The safety net program is available to fill the gaps for families working toward establishing with a primary medical home for their children. Families who are in need of immunizations to attend school may call 530-886-1883 for eligibility screening and appointment scheduling.
COVID-19 Vaccines - With the changes to the funding stream for COVID vaccine this fall, Placer County is only able to offer COVID vaccine for adults 19+ without health insurance (or with health insurance that does not cover vaccines) and VFC-eligible children ages 6 months-18 years. Vaccine clinics are available on MyTurn or families may call 530-886-1883 for assistance with resources. People with health insurance should be able to get their vaccines at a local pharmacy or their primary doctor's office.
