The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offers many services.

Some of those services include:

• Plates, Permits, & Placards
• Records
• Registration
• Request miscellaneous original documents
• Testing
• Title Transfers
• Records ownership (certificate of title) of vehicles DMV registers
• ID cards (Including Real IDs)
• Investigates consumer complaints

Additional notes:

The DMV encourages people to make appointments at their local DMV office if they’re in need of a service. Some services, like renewing the registration for a vehicle, can be completed online or by mail.
